I hate being photographed and am usually on the other side of the camera so I felt a bit anxious to arrive at a strangers studio for this express purpose.
Danann put me at ease before I’d even stepped in the door with his charming and relaxed demeanour and made time to have a cuppa and a good chat which really set the tone for an enjoyable shoot. I already knew he was an experienced film/tv director so coupled with feeling comfortable, I felt like I was in good hands and trusted his direction. I never liked head shot sessions. As I never really got my self prepared and it was always a rush. So consequently my previous head shots never captured what I wanted let alone a range of looks.
So what a relief when I saw what Danann had shot. I found his experience as an actor and director helped me get some unique shots that I think "get me". I followed his advise on his website about being prepared and what to bring to the session really useful. I came with characters in mind and played the role during the shoot and the results consequently show different casting opportunities for me. I especially was happy with the lighting - no shiny foreheads or unflattering skin tones for me now! He was also very patient with my nerves, my hair and the heat (over 30 degrees that day !). After the shoot I received all the pictures so I invested time and confident with my final decisions. It took a while but totally worth it as I am at totally certain with my choices. My agent was very happy with them and excited to get my new looks out there. I was also impressed with Danann's knowledge and suggested editing for social media.
So a big thumbs up from someone who does not shudder at her headshots anymore and excited to share them.

The session with Danann was virtually perfect. He was calm and collected despite my late arrival, absolutely professional in every way, and his creativity kept surprising me every moment.
We had such a good time that we ended up going an hour over time, and by then he looked like he could've gone three more. I have had a lot of photoshoots in the past, but this has been by far my best, both in terms of atmosphere (listening to Tom Waits and Eminem can't really go wrong for me) and results, which were already flabbergasting in raw format but absolutely stunning when retouched! When I compared them to my last photoshoot, I know exactly where my money went.

I had my head shots taken with Danann last month and I honestly couldn’t recommend him enough. I’ve never been too comfortable in front of the camera, but as soon as I arrived Danann made me feel completely at ease. With little personal touches throughout, such as my name written on a chalkboard hanging from the front door handle when I arrived and the offer of refreshments throughout, it felt like I was working with a friend rather than a complete stranger.
After talking through what I needed to get from my shoot, Danann suggested we get started, and the following few hours seemed to fly by! He went through my outfit choices and made suggestions as to what would work best as well as showing me how the photos were looking as we went along. I even had my own choice of soundtrack to accompany me throughout my shoot - apparently my choice of Fleetwood Mac is a popular one among actors, haha.
Headshots were sent to me in a matter of weeks and did not disappoint. They were natural, not too posed and I actually looked just like myself, something that other photographers seem to struggle with. With so many photos to choose from, I had to whittle it down to a final 3 which, after being chosen, were sent to me in just a couple of days. Not only am I happy with my headshot, but so is my agent who has recommended Danann to other clients of hers after seeing his work.

I was greeting at the door with a notice saying 'welcome Leanna' so I knew I was in the right place. Danann and his little very cute dog met me at the door. We drank tea and chatted and he made me feel at ease. There was a clothes rail to hang my outfits and a nice bathroom to change in.
During the session, Danann put up with my music choices letting me play a playlist on Spotify to put me in a good frame of mind.
He swiftly changed backgrounds to compliment the outfits I wore and encouraged me to think of different characters to bring out different looks through my expression.
I am thrilled with my shots and already have castings coming in. Each shot is different and you have so many photos to choose from you are bound to get what you need.
The turnover was quick the website easy to use and create favorite lists to narrow down on choices. The photos are not over-airbrushed. Most importantly I look like me in my headshot!

Danann makes you feel totally relaxed and gives you just the right amount of direction to help you nail pics which will help you get work! During our session, we managed to capture a wide variety of looks that are full of personality and I felt comfortable and confident. Really impressed with the whole experience.

Shooting with Danann was fantastic. Started the session with a nice cup of tea and chat where I got to specify what I wanted for my shots, which Danann managed to translate onto camera perfectly. The studio itself is fab, it has lots of natural light and all sorts of lovely backgrounds, which makes for some beautiful fresh and vibrant shots. Danann makes you feel totally at ease so that you can relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera. He has a great eye and chooses the perfect lighting or background that works best for you, and gives some really helpful direction. I love my final images and will defiantly be using Danann again in the future.

I hate having my photograph taken so having headshots done is definitely not something I look forward to - but Danann was so patient and fun to be with that he helped me to relax. I absolutely loved shooting with Danann! The atmosphere was very comfortable and personalised from the start by the sweet welcoming sign and having a chat over a tea. It was really nice to have this as a start rather than going straight into a work mode because it helped me destress from a journey all through London with a suitcase full of outfits and not really knowing the city. When selecting the outfits he made well-reasoned choices but also considered my opinions. The shooting itself had a relaxed and friendly, yet concentrated atmosphere helped through music and chatting so that at times I forgot I had my headshots taken. By his directions and overall comments Danann gave me confidence and helped me get the looks/ characters I was going for. Even though the shooting was super fun and personal it was very efficient as we got through 5 different outfits and styles in two hours, having every possible type of mood worked off in each outfit. This gave me a huge range of types I could choose from for shots I wanted edited which I had a very difficult time to do because it felt like every shot had its own story through angles and lighting. When I finally did make my choice, Danann was quick in finishing the touch-up and I was absolutely stunned with the results.
So if you think about getting your headshots taken by Danann, I would highly recommend doing so, you will have a fabulous time shooting and definitely get a fantastic value for your money.

My headshot shoot with Danann was a blast, lots of laughs, got to play whatever music I wanted to get me in the mood. The photos were absolutely unreal and started getting me more work almost straight away. If you need new shots Danann is your guy.

Danann can capture the essence of a personality quite instantly and - especially important for an actor--other facets far beyond that, as well.
So the results are stunning, the process to get there was made easy by him: Music of my choice, nice surrounding atmosphere - you feel you have a chat, while Danann manages to portray the most interesting and best of you(like a version of you in a highly vibrant or focused moment, it's still you, but caught in the perfect moment).
Danann knows perfectly how to adapt the set and the light to the given situation, so we achieved a lot of different moods and outfit changes. This establishes confidence and makes you feel relaxed, on top of that, Danann knows especially well how to work with actors.
In the blink of an eye, the session is over (though it lasted 3 hours real time), you have excellent material which might lift your career to the next level, while you felt you had some relaxing time off.
